Worked at SCFP for 7.5 years as a water treatment operator. Responsible for control of treatment plant processes, chemical dosages, and equipment used to treat water for the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Determined and adjusted plant flows to meet system demands, identified trends and abnormal operation to make appropriate changes in plant processes to optimize performance and efficiency using Computerized Data Acquisition & Control system (CDACS). Operated sludge belt presses, Veolia ACTIFLO high-rate clarifiers using microsand, chemical treatment equipment, storage vessels, circulation pumps and valves.
Complied with safety requirements of the facility and actively promoted safe work practices and advised system staff and/or contractors of potential problems and alarms. Reviewed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and conducted confined space entries according to appropriate regulatory guidelines. Advised on need to order chemicals and accepted chemical shipments by inspecting chemical containers and security tags before taking delivery and unloading either by hand or with equipment such as forklifts and telehandler. Conducted tours of facilities to public.
